Donald Trump, Bureaucracy Apprentice

CAROLINE GAMON

JANUARY 2, 2017

Every election year, politicians of both parties portray Washington as a Gomorrah of influence peddling, goldbricking and waste, funded by hardworking taxpayers. But to the civil servants who process Social Security payments, hunt tax cheats, track terrorists, enforce environmental laws, maintain national parks or test experimental drugs, the federal government is not just the source of a reliable paycheck but an honorable mission.

Republicans especially delight in belittling the bureaucracy and complaining about what they call federal workers’ “lifetime tenure,” the Civil Service rules that help shield them from political interference. President-elect Donald Trump has no governing experience, arriving in Washington with so little understanding of the federal government that he thought he would inherit President Obama’s White House staff. This naïveté, combined with his advisers’ and his party’s ideological hostility to government, has led to bizarre moves that have unnerved the federal work force.

Mr. Trump has declared, with evident hallucination, that he can pay off the $19 trillion national debt by targeting federal agency “waste, fraud and abuse.” The best measure of such savings, in the form of “improper payments,” such as Social Security paid to dead people, maxes out at about $125 billion, and the government is already working to recoup that.

He has promised a blanket hiring freeze, even though the size of the civilian federal work force has been declining over the last 50 years. Mr. Trump has said that having 10 percent fewer workers would make it easier to police them for corruption, as if they were the housekeeping staff in one of his hotels instead of a labor force of 2.5 million.

Brazil: Search for fugitives after deadly jail riot in Amazonas

Police in northern Brazil are searching for dozens of inmates who escaped from an overcrowded prison complex during a riot that left 56 dead, officials say.

The area in Manaus, in Amazonas state, has been isolated. Officials say 40 out of 87 fugitives have been recaptured.

Meanwhile, families have gathered outside the local morgue to identify the victims. Some were decapitated.

The violence began on Sunday and ended 17 hours later. It was the deadliest prison riot in Brazil in years.

Officials said the riot at the Anisio Jobim Penitentiary Centre, the biggest in Amazonas, was sparked by fighting between rival gangs over the control of prisons and drug routes.

"This was another chapter in the silent and ruthless war of drug trafficking," state public security secretary Sergio Fontes told journalists.

The clashes, he added, appeared to be between members of Family of the North (FDN), a powerful local gang, and rivals from the First Capital Command (PCC), Brazil's largest gang, whose base is in Sao Paulo, in the south-east.

FDN is believed to be attacking PCC inmates at the behest of the Rio de Janeiro-based Red Command (CV) drug gang, the country's second largest.

When the riot began, six headless bodies were thrown over the perimeter fence of the prison.

It ended on Monday, when the inmates surrendered their weapons and freed the last of 12 guards they had taken hostage.

Pictures showed bloodied and burned bodies stacked in a concrete prison yard and piled in carts. A post-riot search by police found several firearms and tunnels.

Brazil has the world's fourth-largest prison population, with some 600,000 inmates. Overcrowding is a serious problem and violent riots are frequent.

Reports said the capacity of the Anisio Jobim Penitentiary Centre was for 454 inmates, but it had 1,224 men.

In 1992, a rebellion at the Carandiru prison in Sao Paulo saw 111 inmates killed, nearly all of them by police as they retook the jail.

Asus planning to slam us with new Asus Chromebook, it could have USB-C

By Femmy Lucas  Last Modified on December 30th, 2016  News  No Comments

Over the years, Asus has carved a lovely reputation for itself in the PC niche. When selecting laptops, popular options could be HP, Dell…running into Asus. And Asus is not planning on winding down things a bit as it is planning to storm us with a fresh revolutionary ChromeBook.

From the reports we are gathering, we could be having the ASUS C302CA any time soonest. Details and speculation have been waving in ever since but we give you some hints of what you should be expecting to see in this new Chromebook.

Talking about the C302CA, we could be seeing a 12.5-inch, 1080p touchscreen. There is high possibility that ASUS will beef this touchscreen up with the capacity to flip around so you can enjoy the Chromebook in the form of a 2-in-1 convertible tablet. The C302CA would run off a 2.2 GHz Intel Core m3 processor.

One thing that could makes the C302CA stand out from other Asus models and laptops in general is that it would be replacing the legendary USB 3.0 with the innovative USB-C, bringing in two USB-C port which would have functions of charging the C302CA. The laptop would also sport a microSD card slot. We can not really say clearly but the C302CA could bring 4GB of RAM as well as 64GB of storage. We can’t say how much price Asus would be slapping on the laptop.

Well with the Consumer Electronic Show around the corner, we all expect ASUS to formally bomb us with information about the upcoming C302CA.

Buhari will Die in 2019, Nnamdi Kanu’s release is near – Prophet Declares

Prophet Emmanuel Chukwudi, of King of Kings Deliverance Church, Mgbo Court, Ohaukwu Local Government, Ebonyi State has revealed that Nnamdi Kanu, the Director of Radio Biafra who is being held by the Federal Government will soon be released from custody.

The prophet also told journalists that pro-Biafrans should rejoice now as the manifestation of an independent nation called Biafra is very much in the horizon.

The Gbonum Ulepa-Ntezi, Ebonyi State-born prophet stated this yesterday, 1st January, 2017in Asaba, when he released prophecies for 2017.

He said revelations that came after his return from the proverbial mountain of prayer, include an earlier prophecy he made that President Muhammadu Buhari will not complete his first term in office.

The man of God, who was officially conferred with the title of ‘Prophet Onye Ruo Uka Ofu N’anya I of Ntezi’ (doubters will behold with their eyes) said he earned the title after predicting correctly that Dr Goodluck Jonathan would win the 2011 presidential polls, but lose to General Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. He had also prophesied Donald Trump’s victory in 2016 to earn the title.

He warned that the army would make attempts to snatch power, but that eventually, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would steer the ship of leadership into 2019.

Continuing, Prophet Emmanuel Chukwudi told our correspondent that prophets who say that President-elect Donald Trump of the United States will never be sworn in are from the pit of hell. He argued that just as he saw Trump win the elections against all odds, so would he be sworn in, despite the odds.

His words: “Tell pro-Biafrans to stop shedding tears. Their leader Nnamdi Kanu shall not remain in prison custody for too long again. He is already on his way out. As for their (pro-Biafrans) agitations for Biafra, the Lord says it is already in the horizon. Their day shall come soon”.

“The Lord is also speaking about Nigeria. Nigeria will come out of its current recession before the end of 2019. Oil price will stabilise and hardship shall disappear. But towards 2019, the president’s health shall fail him, and he shall go the way of all men. But VP Yemi Osinbajo shall wrestle with the soldiers. They shall try to seize power and Osinbajo shall prevail. He shall lead Nigeria into 2019”.

“Look at America. Thousands of fake prophets are rising in America and they say that Trump is the anti-Christ, that he shall never become president. They said that and I laughed and told them that the Lord has made him president. Today, they are singing a new song, that he shall never be sworn in. I laugh again, because they are false prophets. The Lord shall bring shame to their faces the day Trump is sworn in. Go and tell Trump that, just as the Lord battled all his enemies to enthrone him president, so shall He weed them out and bring shame to their faces the day he shall be sworn in. The snake has been killed, will it now be so difficult to pick up its dead body?”

In February 2016, the prophet had projected Donald Trump as the next president of America. He had told journalists: “the Lord has been showing me something good about America. I saw spiritually that God has raised a great man, a great leader who will rule American with discipline, zero tolerance for corruption. God told me that the current government of Obama is corrupt, and he wants to raise a great leader from the republicans to rule and govern them. He will put all the wrongs right, and correct the wrongs.
